Day 1: Auckland → Wellington

Travel south from Auckland via the Waikato, Taupo, and Central North Island. Pass by the biggest lake in NZ, amazing farmlands, and the Desert Road until we reach the most southern capital of the world Wellington.

Day 2: Wellington → Abel Tasman

Take the Awesome 3-hour ferry crossing to Picton through the magnificent Marlborough Sounds. After lunch we travel further through to the sunshine capital Nelson making our way to the edge of Abel Tasman.

Day 3: Abel Tasman

Full day in Abel Tasman National Park. Options: Kayaking along the golden bays near Kaiteriteri, looking out for the local marine wildlife; or catch a water taxi to one of the bays in the Abel Tasman National Park to go for an afternoon stroll in the native New Zealand forest.

Day 4: Abel Tasman → Punakaiki

Explore the rugged West Coast of NZ, stopping at Buller Gorge. Head to Westport on the West coast, shop for supplies! Spend the night by campfire toasting marshmallows on the beach (weather permitting).

Day 5: Punakaiki → Hokitika → Franz Josef

Travel through snow-capped mountains and fantastic lakes on your journey towards the wild West Coast, through rain forest stopping at the scenic “Punakaiki Pancake Rocks”. Next stop at the Greenstone Factory in Hokitika. Arriving early evening at Franz Josef Glacier, a frozen glacial “River” formed thousands of years ago, in time to take an optional flight to the top of the Glacier (weather permitting).

Day 6: Franz Josef → Wanaka

We leave early along the breathtaking West Coast, stopping in at the Blue Pools, driving through the rain forest of Haast Pass on to Lake Wanaka.

Day 7: Wanaka → Queenstown

Arriving early in Queenstown where we stay for the next three nights. Test your limits in the adrenaline capital of the world with these optional activities: bungy jump, skydiving, jet boating, paragliding, canyon swing, and the luge. talk to your guide about the fun things to do here in Queenstown  Tonight is Dance Night at the Ice Bar (optional).

Day 8: Queenstown

Have a fun day with chosen activities. E.g. Milford Sound all day travel and Cruise. Skydive / Bungy Jumping / Paragliding / Jet boating. For those who don’t have any activities booked, you have the day at your leisure. Tonight is New Years Eve BBQ party and Fire works display.

Day 9: Queenstown

Fun Day in Queenstown. Pick from many optional activities like Gondola & Luge / Skydive / Bungy Jumping / Paragliding/Jet boating. or just relax by the lake, go shopping or try the famous Ferg Burger.

Day 10: Queenstown → Dunedin

Last minute shopping a must try while in Queenstown is the remarkable fudge shop

Wave goodbye to lovely “Queenie” before heading to Dunedin, this is where we can walk the steepest street in the world and also see the famous Dunedin Octagon.


Day 11: Dunedin → Lake Tekapo

Travel north to see the famous Moeraki Boulders. Driving further north to Twizel, fim location of Gondor in “Lord of the Rings”. From here you can see NZ’s highest mountain Aoraki (Mount Cook), the famous bronze dog and the church of the Good Shepherd. Stopping to feed the Salmon.

Day 12: Lake Tekapo → Christchurch → Kaikoura

We head off to Christchurch: South Island’s largest city, vibrant and ever changing after 2010 earthquake before heading to Kaikoura where you have your own leisure time. The lodge has its own pool and spa so you can chill out and unwinds under the stars!

Day 13: Kaikoura

Kaikoura is world renowned for the variety of marine mammals. Optional activity whale and dolphin watching or swim with seals. Others who have no activities booked will be taken to the seal colony and we can do a nice walk around the area. Or you may want to just relax and do some shopping.

Day 14: Kaikoura → Picton → Wellington

Catch the ferry back to Wellington. You will have free time to walk along Oriental Parade, visit famous Te Papa Museum and discover great shops in Cuba Street. Try a must do experience Optional “Wellington Cable Car ride”.

Day 15: Wellington → Auckland

Today we head back to Auckland and swap emails and Facebook addresses, to keep in touch with our new friends made on the trip!
