Piha is probably New Zealand’s best-known beach, and it has a reputation for awesome surf. It was the birthplace of New Zealand board riding in 1956 and has been the scene of both New Zealand national and international surfing championship competitions. If you are lucky you can watch the experts surf.

Day 1
Discover stories and secrets of Waitakere Ranges regional Park with a stop at the Arataki Visitor Centre. Photograph yourself in the giant picture frame and enjoy the spectacular views.
Piha Black Sand Beach
Relax on the beach, or bring a frisbee or a football. Paddle in the water or walk along the coastal tracks. Enjoy a picnic lunch or eat in one of the local cafes.
After an amazing day, we head back to arrive in Auckland around 5pm.*
